Not gonna lie, hadn’t even heard about the movie before but I like her rants.
I’m also glad someone else mentioned the similarities between The Word for World is Forest and Avatar.
The first half was good and then it goes off a cliff from there as it’s slowly revealed the way to deal with lying politicians who are destroying the local environment for again, a freeway that is stated will take 4 minutes off of peoples commutes, is to compromise. They build a small carve out so that the pond isn’t destroyed instead. We watched it on Blorptube and everyone was collectively screaming at the screen. I still think children would have cheered if the shark squished Jerry, they would be able to work out that he’s the villain of the story and deserved to be squished.
Can confirm. That movie was disgusting counterinsurgency designed to gaslight children into believing it is both evil and ineffective to stand up for themselves and others, and that safety is only to be found in fawning, collaborating with the powerful, snitching and betraying anyone with principles. Some (it’s me) are calling this movie the most fascist film to come out all year.

very sad because a movie with beavers about the environment could have been really cool.
You could watch Pom Poko instead, it has tanukis fighting cops with their giant tanuki balls to protect the environment.

Interesting to see the difference between this and Wall-E from a few years ago. That movie was pretty clear that corporations will destroy the environment and deprive humanity of the ability to even perform basic functions in the service of maximising profit.
I haven’t seen this new movie, but it does really feel like any actual creative spark has long since left Pixar and it is only the corporate bootlicking social climbers left, and this is what it looks like when they make an “environmental” movie.
