You know who I’ve never actually heard this from? People who actually lived and grew up under communism. It’s only ever the “I may have been born in 1999, but I am an expert on the horrors communism inflicted on my people.” types who do this. Granted, that’s likely a selection bias thing, since older people aren’t going to be nearly as active in the English speaking parts of the internet, but still, I always hear this from Polish guys younger than me like “We survived the Communists, which means you need to shut up about me saying awful things.” When it’s like, “C’mon man, you didn’t “survive” anything other than capitalism, how can you not see that capitalism is the problem, not communism.”
