Fpv drones especially, genuinely a very cool experience. No other reason, thank you for your attention on this matter.

In robot combat we mostly use drone motors and batteries, because they’re really powerful for their weight. I have a big box of spare parts now and I’ve always wondered what it would take to turn them into something peaceful.
Combat robots don’t have flight controllers though, and those don’t seem cheap.

I’ve got one to checkup the rooftop here instead of using a ladder on the third floor balcony.
I got the cheapest with a camera. The controls are counter intuitive. Like “forward” is wherever the front of the drone was at startup. So even if I turn, it doesn’t adjust so I just can’t mange it. I wonder if I would be able to reprogram it somewhat, but I really only know basic stuff in prog, and haven’t touched it.
(I’ve edited later on after rereading the comment, which I should do whenever I press save.)
Lots of good used drone deals on Craigslist. It’s nice that a few models are under 250g and don’t require faa registration
I found a shitty micro drone on the side of the road a while back and it just needed a new battery. Then I got cocky and tried hanging a massive battery under it and launched the whole thing into my wall and now my stupid trash drone needs a new rotor.
Id love to try an fpv drone
i bought a mavic 2 back when covid kicked in hard, and that was fun while all the airspace was closed to travel… but over the next few months it opened up again and suddenly i wasn’t able to fly anywhere near by – cops had been called because people saw it flying over their property and it’s illegal to view someone’s property with a camera if it can’t be seen from a standing height. Also the app stopped working once I got a new phone so I haven’t been able to fly it for years now. It’s all just sitting in a box, useless :(
this is a sad story and I hope you can find a nerd to fix the drone for you.
