I think it’s better than native Linux builds especially if the studio doesn’t have the expertise in house to actually do a good job. Linux ABI compatibility is a pain.
It can be a pain if you’re doing all the coding yourself in a non X-Platform language, but I think(?) that’s not very common nowadays.
My real frustration is when Indie devs literally use like Gamemaker, Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc and these tools basically all come with very functional native Linux binary export functions, but they don’t bother.

KSP has a native linux version, but the windows version run through proton works better
