Example: support for Iran, opinions about non-violent protests changing, Opinion in favour of Palestine, Hamas and Ansarallah has increased
Even in Lemmy.world and even feddit people seem to be echoing my examples quite a lot
Trump causes it.
The libs will go back to brunch when he’s gone. They are more effective at making everyone switch off but still carrying out the evil, sometimes in far greater quantity.
Everyone here thought Yanis Varoufakis was mad for being incredibly Doomer when Biden won the election against Trump but he was totally right in the end, revolutionary energy that built up and found outlets through BLM and other things all fizzled completely. The same will happen when Trump goes again.
The left must take advantage of every moment currently happening to recruit and radicalise while people are in this state of mind.
This has been a phenomenon noted by communists over here that have been involved with the Korean and Vietnam anti-war protests. Libs come and go like the tide but the Reds remain.
Yup, combine short attention spans with a “return to normalcy” and this current sentiment will be a blip in time.
I remember plenty of people here (myself included) who said the same thing. And I am not even a believer in accelerationism, it is just a noted phenomenon.
I’ve noticed a vibe shift; my theory is that Trump is a radicalizing force (which was the purpose of the so-called No Kings protest, to sheepdog libs back into the party and away from radicalization) and so it should last at least the next few years.
Although if there is a presidential election I’m sure lemmy.world will defederate from lemmy.ml and the libs will have their revenge.
Also! Ukraine is still the one issue that liberals will not budge on and I don’t see that changing as Russia racks up victories and the US pulls out of the debacle. I envision a new EU-centered revanchist stabbed-in-the-back myth which sees a need for Europe to reclaim its power from the US and return to its old imperial might to “spread democracy” and “defend human rights”.
I completely share the analysis in your last paragraph. Living in western Europe, it’s definitely what libs here believe.
I saw yesterday, in the comments section of an NBC news video on YouTube, people chiding Israel for starting a war that now might drag the US into another quagmire like they did in Iraq. Veterans making statements like “I’m not going back to save Israel’s ass!” and things of that nature. So not quite pro-Iran but internet-wide the tide is changing and will keep changing as Israel doesn’t have anything to do other than drag the USA and rest of the west into this fight that they clearly started.
The question is will people remember it was Israel that started the war?
“But muh khamas”
Yeah that’ll definitely be the line from hasbara
Well, a “war” is when two armies fight. So it was actually Iran’s actions that started the “war”
Not remotely true, but I’m choosing to believe that the Tankie Troika is finally having an impact
I wouldn’t know, I’ve been trapped here for 5 years and rely on other lemmies to bring in nuggets of information every time they stop by our little hexagonal ursine village
I think the left and right wings have been separating themselves more with defederations etc.
