Not at all, the design was actually meant to make ski jumping safer. Unfortunately the ski federation wouldn’t allow it.
The design was shelved shortly after the tests.
What uh… happened during the tests…?
IIRC they found that it wasn’t viable for the role it was designed for. There wasn’t any catastrophic failures that I remember.
The version I remember is that it was meant to be a quiet way to have a moving elevated guard post. It wasn’t quiet.
