With a sort of “Obama awards Obama” post but I’ll still take him 100x over Donald Musk.

Ditch X, dump Tesla, and maybe one day… drop Starlink? (Just saying I’m not hearing this boycott)

probably because for most individual consumers it’s a choice of last resort. if they had access to usable DSL/cable they’d choose that instead (cheaper, simpler), but have had to turn to starlink to get online where they live.

id be pretty sure that the broadband expansion to rural areas projects in the biden administration was working on will grind to a halt if they havent already.

how maga people watch musk and dismantle public services and give billions of dollars in subsidies to musk’s businesses and still think they’re fighting for them is just otherworldly levels of cognitive dissonance management

It’s one thing to claim racist bigots voted for Trump as a retaliation to the Obama administration. It’s another thing to claim it’s Obama’s fault that we got Trump.

I don’t think that’s the argument being made. I can’t speak for OP but, Obama was objectively a mediocre president.

He was a wall street loving centrist democratic politician.

He campaigned on change and then he bailed out the big banks when the shit hit the fan. Sure, he had some redeeming policies. (ACA and such)

However, this does not detract from the fact that he created no tangible change to the status quo. His shortcomings led directly to the rise of the same rightwing populism that’s decimating government institutions today.

In his very short time of having a power over the Congress he achieved something that nobody thought possible. Against the wishes and the will of majority of Americans he gave tens of millions of them an access to health care, an access that they weren’t able to get before, and will not be able to get after his legacy will be dismantled in a couple if months. It took all of his momentum, all the political power to do.
For some reason you think that America is capable of some change to the better, but you people are so deep in the conservative mindset, it takes the best momentum of the century to achieve a singular good thing.
And don’t blame it on Obama or Democratic larty, like you love doing so much, you are in control of your country’s trajectory (well, until Trump will go full Putin on your ass). And you collectively chose whatever it is around you right now.

Ah yes, notable for codifying and expanding Bush’s drone war and then… somehow getting a Peace Prize for that?

Also, we can literally blame the rise and prominence of Tom Homan on Obama. So should be still really be cheering for Obama at all, ever?

Can we fuck off with this pretending that these fucks didn’t enable the situation we’re now literally in? How could we expect our government to go after Trumps crimes when Obama said “we need to look forward, not backward” in respect to going after war crimes?

Further, can we stop pretending that one corporate social media is better than another corporate social media. Jay Graber talks good game, but so did Zuckerberg, Musk, and Dorsey before they got their billions. You’re just building another billionaire who will turn on you.

Reminder, Bluesky owes literally millions to Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm. They will have to pay that money back somehow. The enshittification will happen. And I’m sick of the weak loser excuse “We will just move to another shitty corporation with another shitty corporate social media service when this one doesn’t work out.” Cool, and you’ll mint more billionaires each time, you jabronis.

That’s half the reason people use it.

That half the reason is only for weird celebrity worshipping jackasses.

What the fuck are you talking about? Purity tests are why we’re in this mess. How many people stayed home because they couldn’t bear to pull the lever for an imperfect black woman over yet another piece of shit geriatric white fuckboi? All because she wasn’t progressive enough!

Good job! You saved Palestine! Ukraine is on the verge of victory!

edit: Don’t instrumentalize a genocide and an invasion to further push a bs argument about why you lost an election. Use real arguments. And fucking hell the sarcasm, it looks like you guys enjoy the pain of the oppressed because you can use it against your ideological fellow. The americans are broken it seems. Also remember that the democratic party lost against a rapist and felon who attempted a coup. Get a grip. Maybe it is time for introspection.

For the hundredth time. If people are staying home the fault is with the candidate. That’s how voting works. You have to earn votes. Either accept that or get used to losing.

Not that you liberals are all that upset with the results.

If people are staying home the fault is with the candidate.

I’m going to try and appeal to whatever reason I hope you may possess by saying that under normal circumstances- you’d be absolutely correct. And that there’d be no sound logic in anyone disagreeing with what you are saying, because definitively, without argument- that is how elections work.

                  However-

The key term that differentiates your point from being a reasonable one is- UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

It was made VERY clear what we were going to be facing had we not done the bare minimum and just voted- despite how we felt about the quality of the candidate. In short: this was NOT normal circumstances. We were told what was going to happen. And when Someone like that tells you what they intend- you believe them. And those of us that used our vote as a shield to stand agent them, told you, every one of you- what was going to happen if you didn’t help hold the line.

As I said- under normal circumstances, their job absolutely IS to put up a good candidate. I don’t disagree with this one but- But it is OUR job to use our votes in these circumstances to protect our home from being invaded by someone that has told us the extend of damage they intend to inflict upon it.

So, If you consciously chose to abstain from voting because Harris didn’t meet the quota of perfection required to satisfy your expectations-

then you stood aside and helped to allow it this into our house. There really is no other way to look at it.

And lastly, if you can say with a straight face and honesty in your heart that liberals aren’t that upset by what’s happening, then I’d have to say that it seems with you, that the finger is pointed ever outward-

And that might just be the catalyst of the ignorance we currently face.
