Western media is saying Ansarallah-led Yemeni army forces have shipped in the parts needed to make a ‘version’ of Iran’s Kheibar Shekan missile

The Ansarallah-led Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) is “attempting to produce” new, advanced medium-range missiles using parts delivered by China, western media alleged in a report released on 13 October.

The YAF “shipped in from a Chinese supplier a range of components needed to make a version of one of Iran’s most powerful weapons, the Kheibar Shekan Iranian precision-guided missile,” wrote the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing a report by Conflict Armament Research.

According to the report, Saudi-backed Yemeni authorities intercepted two shipments last year.

“When you have imports like that, there is a possibility that they are already manufacturing or that they are trying and it doesn’t really work out,” said senior Conflict Armament Research analyst Fabian Hinz.

He said Ansarallah-led forces use arms facilities “so well camouflaged that it is unclear how far along missile production has proceeded.”

The Kheibar Shekan has been used extensively by Iran against Israeli targets and US bases across the Gulf, inflicting serious damage.
