Snip:

The Green Party of England and Wales voted for the first time to declare Zionism a form of racism at its party conference in Brighton on 4 October.

Party members voted on Sunday to pass the motion, which also calls for the establishment of a single democratic Palestinian state with equal rights for all ethnic and religious groups.

It also recognizes the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to resist occupation and achieve self-determination “by all available means under international law.”

Previously, the Green Party supported a two-state solution calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza alongside the state of Israel in the remainder of occupied Palestine.

Good progress. It shouldn’t be considered bold, but in this forsaken island anything that isn’t barely washed up hitlerism is at least frowned upon

I haven’t been following the green party too closely, but I seem to remember there being some drama about pro Palestine candidates recently? Glad the party could clarify its stance correctly if nothing else.

The entire political and media class (assisted by a lot of hand wringing left-ish Greens) is already not only branding them as vehemently antisemitic, racist, and fascist but also claiming without pushback on the radio this morning that the Green party is now an ‘extremist party calling for violence against Jews beyond what even Palestinian leadership in the region have called for’. More than a dozen MPs in the party of government have formally referred the Green party to the police to be investigated for antisemitism and extremism.

They’re already laying the groundwork. If they can’t destroy it like Corbynism (they’ll probably succeed, even the principled Green members who voted for this are too squishy and comfortable to take that kind of constant unending onslaught) they’ll absolutely find a way to ban them from standing.

And the whole thing will go on with the next person or group that dares raise its head and try to gently push back against the screaming, bloodthirsty, fascist cabal that runs this country.

To clarify, there isn’t a UK Green Party as the title implies.

There’s the Green Party of England and Wales, the Scottish Greens, and Green Party Northern Ireland (which is a part of the Green Party of Ireland).

3 separate green parties throughout the UK. They agree on many issues but are independent organisations with independent policies and governance.

The Scottish Greens even cut off ties with GPEW for a while because GPEW was transphobic and treating SG as subordinate to GPEW. They’re on speaking terms again due to GPEW making internal changes but still firmly separate organisations.

This is a very cool motion, I obviously agree with the message. But immediately seeing all the media and politicians come out declaring how super-pooper racist it is to oppose ethnostates though.

The government narrative of conflating zionism with being Jewish is exactly what tanked Corbyn in the public view. Sadly I think we’ll see the same thing happen with the Green Party now. And with that, I sadly predict any hope of incredibly slight reform from electoralism will go again, and the “Labour” party is back tory

I don’t know, personally I always thought it was Brexit that sunk Corbyn, more than the antisemitism accusations, tho it certainly didn’t help

But in 2026 without the stink of labor and the genocide in full view, I don’t think even British media can contain the Green party, at least not over this issue
