Literally all new cars do this. Literally any iot device does this. Also, driving it into a mine is such performative nonsense. You can literally just unhook the datalink antenna.

Everyone knows you dig down to reach China, why do you think the car is going to stop trying when you’re literally bringing it closer?

wait until they hear about windows laptops

*not that i don’t get the annoyance, but it’s just impressing people into china bad, either your software is self contained or you buy piece of shit which can be hacked at any point someone takes control of the server on other side of the world. which includes all the phones, 90% smart appliances and new cars **and if it’s especially shitty, they don’t even need to control a server. like iphones and androids getting 0dayed by qr codes

That finding sits at the center of Project Lion Cage, a multi-year study initiated in 2022 by Tor Indstøy, a risk management and threat intelligence executive at Telenor Group. Indstøy purchased the NIO ES8 as a dedicated research platform.

Dude’s just trynna’ drum up some business for his IT security business.

Can’t we agree this is all so stupid? Why do we need cars connecting to anything? Why is everything phoning home? Every single piece of tech is telling on you at all times and it is disgusting.

I figured it’s more to do with trying to connect to maps if it’s like the cars I’ve seen over there.
