“We’ve exited colleagues who I’ve worked with for most of my career… It is in many ways a harsh reality,” Walden said during the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles.

“It is extremely painful,” she added.

More than 300 people were laid off from Disney on Tuesday, most of whom work in human resources and information technology, according to US media reports.

“Technology set their sights on our business, and we must survive and thrive and grow. And that’s what we’re going to do,” she said.

last company i worked for did that… I was the IT guy. I knew some shit was up by the meetings we were having and by the higher-up people who suddenly quit seemingly without warning. My colleague in HR was showing some pretty obvious signs that something major was coming because she kept giddily talking about how “she can’t talk about what she’s working on” in our standup meetings for like 2 months. Then suddenly I had this bizarre deadline to get some documentation done by a very specific date which is exactly what they did when they fired my IT colleague months earlier.

So when the day came I already knew when the meeting popped up on my calendar. It was the HR colleague and the company lawyer delivering the news. They tried to make it sound better by telling me I was just “one of many” that were being let go that day. Wow, I feel so much better!

A discord server was formed by one of the people who got laid off and he reached out to everyone on linked in to let them know. I joined in the bitching and laughing and all that but what I was not prepared for was the HR lady joining at the end of the day, FURIOUS that after all her hard work firing everyone they fired her too. Fucking amazing shit.
