I mean that’s what it boils down to, right?

In the USA, liberalism is largely equated with leftism. In other countries, there are actual left-wing parties, groups and movements, while liberals are usually recognized for the weird centrist lil freaks they are.

    Not in the USA though.

Not just the US anymore. In the UK Labour are unironically referred to as far left whereas the Greens are treated like the Bolsheviks, Black Panthers, ANC, the CPC, Juches, and Fidel Castro all rolled into one.

I agree with you. Its just the USA to me feels like most extreme version of liberal = leftist. Despite not having any leftwing party

The most confusing thing is that liberals in Europe will claim that European liberalism is something completely different than US liberalism. Then you look at the programs and it looks like they google translated the Hillary Clinton platform or something. Of course what they mean is that they don’t do CRT and hate trans people but that’s again not much different from US liberal politics.

South Korea explicitly outlaws any actual leftwing politics IIRC. I think even anarchists were prosecuted under Rhee for being “too sympathetic to Marxism.”
