Carlson as in Tucker Carlson? It annoys me how Tucker Carlson is actually pretty savvy a lot of the time. What a fucking creep.
Carlson is one of those rare fascists who actually understands fascism, liberalism, capitalism, socialism, etc and his propaganda is built around the fact that he actually knows what he’s talking about. Most fascists are the absolute laziest most incurious losers imaginable, but every now and again you get someone who fully recognizes the scope of the evil he supports and says “Yeah, that is in fact who I want to be.”
I have respect for Tucker Carlson as an enemy in a way I don’t for complete morons like Trump. You can’t villain monologue at Trump, he wouldn’t understand what the fuck you’re talking about. Carlson would though.
Tucker legit moves in ways that make me go “damn, I never would have thought of that” sometimes. It’s inconceivable to me that someone capable of any iota of insight would choose to spend their time doing that
Seeing the savvy poke through actually makes me see him as less of a creep, personally. It’s the figures who never break kayfabe - they’re chilling.
I think Tucker probably has the capacity for reflective thought, making him maybe morally more depraved that he still does what he does
That’s kinda what’s so amusing about him. And it makes him a better barometer of where your average chud yankee is; the people who vote “R” and maybe even have a media diet of Fox News, but are still kind and decent to others in their actual interpersonal interactions. The walking contradictions, if I’m being really crass about it.
I’ve been ruminating on just that lately! Most of my life and to this day most people automatically clock me as a man. The body does it. So when I talk to men they talk to me like one of their own, and it’s a real mess in there. Patriarchy has our men fucked in the head baaaad. I know some very good men whose strength of character keep them good and honest. But it’s wild to be treated very nicely by men who otherwise get gurgling mad at the thought of people exactly like me.
