Danish media is reporting it as Trump being allowed to build more military bases, which he was already allowed to do, and Mute B. Egede is saying that the deal changes nothing about Greenlandic autonomy.
I don’t know enough about anything to confirm or deny.
The office of Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, said the deal will be signed by three governments next week during the United Nations General Assembly, but parliamentary action is still needed by the Danish and Greenland governments before it can be enforced.
In a statement, she said “the agreement recognises the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Greenland and Denmark and upholds both peoples’ right “to self-determination”.
Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said the emerging deal benefits all three governments and “recognises Greenland’s interests and our place in the international cooperation”.
Why would you change the title?
Bourgeois media is full of shit. They’re using passive voice to play it down.
Because this title is slightly more direct.
It’s not “slightly more direct”, it’s saying something completely different than what is actually reported, and we have no way of knowing whether is true or not.
no it’s not
Doesn’t change anything dejure but with the US posturing about taking over the island them building more bases still matters.
Sure it has a strategic interest but whoever choose this graphic on why … Well probably haven’t seen an earthglobe

This seems like the sort of thing the US would have done no matter who’s in charge, and the Europeans were only pissed because of how rude Trump has been about it with talking about a formal annexation.
It’s such a silly dynamic with Trump acting strong for the MAGA base and his ego, then the Europeans who don’t mind bowing to the US but draw the line at openly admitting that’s what they’re doing.
I think other presidents would build military bases without talking about how the US should just take Greenland.
What’s the mood in Denmark? Does the populace see this for what it is, or are they just as cynically full of shit as their media
The media is fully just not saying what is involved in the actual agreement, just reporting people’s reactions to it. Which most people seem to have clocked, so there’s a lot of confusion.
