Whether or not true, part of me suspects that this level of alphabet agency statement is meant to build a scaffold for the eventual ban of Chinese AI products. They’ll say it’s all stolen and it’s a national security risk, and force everyone to have to be locked into a non-competitive internal market, just like they’ve done previously with EVs and drones. (Chinese EVs are just tariffed to hell I guess, not banned).
