One of my favourite mushrooms to eat, Craterellus cornucopioides. These are very abundant where I live. It’s a great mushroom to dry as well. I love how goth these guys are.
Sometimes they are very easy to find, sometimes very hard if they are well camouflaged. The habitat they grow in is easy to get a feel for so once you learn to find them, you will always find them.
It is also referred to as the poor man’s truffle as the flavour when dried has notes of black truffle. A great mushroom for risotto.

This reminded me that Kekri season is approaching. That is always neat for me as a non native resident

There was a seaweed I used to harvest, when dried it tasted mildly of truffle. It was very good, and I would bring some home and dry it out and put it on everything. I miss harvesting food from the ocean.
