It’s clearly petition* time!
*The ghoulish art of giving people a false sense of agency by asking them to sign one.
Lol sounds plausible.
It was due to petty bougie covid boredom here for sure, they had to find a way to go spread that shit in close proximity to others.
I’ll have to go do a bike tour of all the big padel halls that opened here because of it and see how many are now closed. Nobody even mentions padel anymore.
Oh yes we did this too. It’s so much fun. There was a version where you threw the ball to the wall and called out someones name who had to catch it while others run away. Then the person with the ball had to try and catch the others by throwing the ball at them, if they got you, you would burn out from the game.
I thought it was padel? Like a hundred of these popped up where I am from and all the petty bougies started doing this during covid. It’s sort if like squash, but in an aquarium of sorts I think. It’s the sweaty bougie display.

But premature or overdue, the revolution – the locomotive of history – and with it the communist society, of necessity asserts itself, and is carried through by the workers themselves, for the previous course of history has created a condition which permits of no other solution, because that solution is identical with the present life necessities of the majority of mankind.
And the proletarian revolution, while it changes the world, will not neglect to educate the astonished “educators.”
When I got what it actually is (learning past the revisionist takes) and truly understanding that it’s inevitable. Like the whole “I might not see it in my lifetime, but historical forces…”
I read a memoir of a long passed local communist and she ended her book with exactly these thoughts. I remind myself of that anytime I start feeling doomer.
Well true, this is known
But could there have been a slower spreading variant first, circulating in stealth mode in the world? I fully believe that Western neoliberal healthcare could have missed these if they were singular unexplained pneunomia looking things in the elderly or anyone, we just treat symptoms if people aren’t dying.
Maybe whatever got introduced to China was already a variant that was able to take off better? Tourism could have a role here that nobody would want to look into as that too is important to the economy.
I know that the og variant got completely eradicated from my country and the following one was introduced by a single group of petty bourge alpine skiiers that travelled to Austria. It took months for the new variant to take off here, but it was traced back to those tourists.
Afaik even cats can get it. Stray cats are common in touristy places like the mediterranean cities. Who knows honestly, but the white paper does claim it wasn’t found in wildlife around Wuhan.
A stuffing of zucchini, rice, onion, maybe some shrooms is always nice. Essentially a vegan gemista.
Edit. I’ve never precooked the peppers before stuffing, they still get nice and soft, especially if covered with foil. The recipe above seems overcomplicated, here is one that is more like what I have done. CW for second link, milk products, that can be left out just fine.
Well this. We know now that it thrives on fur farms for example. What if it originated in those, plenty of such farms in the “West”. In Finland for example the conditions are notoriously bad and there is no oversight.
I remember when it finally got aknowledged that white-tail deer are a coronavirus reservoir. Our local food and safety department announced that there is no need to test anything because there is no risk for spillover and covid-19 isn’t foodborne. They just stated that. So the motivation to test, track and understand just isn’t there in capitalist states.
The bird flu also thrives on fur farms and the “solution” this country chose was to allow the fur farmers to shoot the birds, even rare birds, around the farms to protect their industrialized animal cruelty business.
Huge malpractice, cruelty and overproduction issues were also revealed in local salmon farming. Dead birds in the tanks, the fish are suffocating and sick.
I don’t necessarily think the lab leak is likely, but I definitely think it could have started somewhere else than China and been imported there. Due to the general lack of oversight, lack of systems to notice a novel pathogen and just neoliberal capitalism being the way it is.
The Chinese hypothesis seems to still be that frozen food was the source.
Thank you! Will definitely make these.
Oh great, I’ve just been buying the ready made vegan "meat"balls like the Ikea ones or Hälsans kök to make this classic favourite, never thought to make them myself from the dark soy granules. Do you let the mass sit/hydrate for long?
Looks like you even have the lingonberry jam there. Comfort food heaven!
Might stick a bit more to the pan. Maybe adding a bit more water could help so it doesn’t?
Could also do this in a kettle on the stove and just use water, it’s more like risotto then. I’d pan fry the veggies and beans and throw them in towards the end if doing this.
Not really, but I’ll list what I used in it, ballpark-edition:
3 deciliters of cooking oats, a can of black beans (230grams drained), one whole red bell pepper diced, one onion diced, garlic to taste & olive oil to taste. Spice it with stuff like black pepper, herbs or whatever feels nice.
These are mixed and spread in an oven pan that has a bit if olive oil in it as coating.
Pour over about 700ml of hot water with a stock cube melted in it.
Cook for about 45mins or so, oven was 175C. Add water if it goes too dry, but some crispyness on top and bottom is the goal. It has a fried rice/paella type of vibe.
This can be done in numerous spice variations and with different beans and veg. Tomatoes or tomato paste work well too.
These oats also make a really good pan “risotto”.
The Chinese Century, let’s goooo!
Any predictions or thoughts from US comrades on how long usaians will roll over and play nice with all that is happening?
Used to play WoW and it was impossible to not hear about this guy when doing that. Never going to forget how this guys mom basically burnt alive due to smoking close to an oxygen tank and this guy was her “caretaker”.
This is amazing! Posted the report to my Western lib family chat with the header: “What a planned economy can do.” There is nothing but crickets in there, lol.
But seriously, the Chinese century let’s goooo!
