Well again youre assuming that someone using a sex toy reinforces patriarchal norms which is a big thing to just take for given. Is sex toy ownership mentally problematic for people who arent men?
Sorry not trying to dog on you specifically, but it feels like theres so much moralizing about if men should be “allowed” to own toys or if its “good for them”. We dont have any research about what these effects will actually be but a lot of people here are just assuming any body whos gonna buy one of these things is some dangerous pervert, which seems reactionary to my eyes.
Toys are normal and fine. Something which is intended to represent the body and the mind of a woman, I see, as encouraging and supporting the sex trade, an industry which not only props up patriarchy on a systemic level but also is individually an incredibly horrifying thing.
What is concerning is not the idea that “perverts” would own it, but instead that “regular” people would own it and have it thus inform their ideas on how women want to and ought to be treated.

It’s about the wider systemic affects that would have for playing into and reinforcing patriarchal attitudes and patriarchal culture.
