I don’t know anything about politics in other countries but measured by a global metric the US must be pretty weird. For decades the GOP has been toxic to everybody except the (extremely) rich and they still manage to win elections and control many states. Meanwhile the democrats are failing stupendously. They are historically unpopular right now.
Of course the dem response as been to keep doing exactly the same thing and focus on their messaging to get themselves out of that hole. But it hasn’t worked at all so in some congressional races - they are supporting independents in the idiotic hope if those candidates win - they will vote for dem stuff. Great plan!
My favorite voting area is New England. New Englander’s sense of pretend rugged individualism is comical to me. Many candidates need to market themselves as “independent” even though that’s a ridiculous lie. The best example is Bernie. For his entire political life going back many decades he’s effectively been a democrat even though he’s technically an independent.
