Am I doing the math wrong? On what planet is inflation for food at only 3%? I feel like I’m paying somewhere between 30 to 50% more at the grocery store than I was before the pandemic started.
3.49% inflation per year since the beginning of 2020 comes out to almost 27% cumulatively by today.

They said i was crazy for buying 40kg of rice and legumes because of the hormuz situation. Who’s laughing now, normies?
White rice lasts forever if dry (though if you get weevils, freezing them can be a pain), but legumes texture gets worse the older they are.
We desperately need to be moving off of fossil fuels for fertilizer anyway. Haber-Bosch process is slightly cheaper and portable, but not necessary (and is a huge contributor to global emissions), fertilizer can be made pretty well with renewable energy! I know that still don’t make living any easier, but there is at least an upside of being better for the climate.
But think about the poor wittle petrochemistry barons!!
