    So many people are high on this magical thinking that social skills are a waste of time and all we need is logical engineers and smart technicians

    jesse-wtf I hate people like this. I have a terrible time with social skills and basically just bluff my way thru everything by failing to understand what’s happening around me and telling myself “ignorance is bliss” while I try not to cry. I get engineering. Engineering sucks. You cant use tech to fix social problems. You can’t engineer yourself out of a bad social situation (ok well maybe you can the-doohickey). Just. Ok yeah we need bridges that dont collapse, but like… Give me skills that matter!!! I wanna learn interpersonal skills!!! I wanna learn how to understand people. And not cry so often from simple things.
