Reminds me of that guy who was upset that Japanese farmers developed a fancy $50 orange and Chinese farmers got a hold of some and started growing them themselves, lowering the price to around $3
The one problem with this model is that the luxury farmers aren’t just charging $50 for every orange they grow, they’re only selling like 5-10% of their yield at that price and they just kind of don’t communicate that part. When the price bottoms out it’s typically because all of a sudden these new growers will sell all of their yield and even though it’s much cheaper, you’re paying $3 for the worst 90% of them. The best 10% are still unaffordable or may just become random chance for you to get good or mediocre fruit.
When confronted, one Chinese farmer smirked on camera: “Don’t you also hope that Chinese people can eat delicious fruit?
Wait, they’re trying to make this sound bad?? Anglos are so fucked in the head that they have the word “smirk” which literally means something like “smile but devious and treacherous”, I don’t think I heard of that in any other language

I think you’re referring to those new giant grapes?
Nope, but that’s probably true too
Ok, sorry then!
No worries, it’s all cool

Won’t the starving fruit thieves think of the poor fruit barons?
$50, but only if they meant 50 Mexican pesos.
That was a $3 USD orange before they got cheap.
