With disgraced self-described socialist Graham Platner (D) exiting the race

I don’t think he every described himself as such. This is more like you-described socialist Graham Platner

If the fucking Maine DSA wouldnt have endorsed him we could easily denounce him. I know that by the Hexbear party line it is still perfectly fine to denounce, but as a centerist between DSA and Hexbear (both very real USian political parties) I’m a bit stuck because the fucking Maine DSA just had to endorse.

As you said though, nobody, even Platner called him a socialist/demsoc/whatever, but it is just muddier than it needed to be cause of that.

I don’t think DSA endorsed Platner, they did one of those “this guy isn’t endorsed by us but if you’re voting, he’s the least bad” that DSA for some reason loves to do

I’m honestly kind of OK with that stance (yeah we can have a struggle on HB about it), but it thought I saw they full endorsed.

Did I fall into the “tankie narrative”? My b if so.

I do think it is good practice to differentiate between “these are the electoral choices, and this one is less bad, so they have my preference” and “I endorse this candidate/policy”.

True, although I can see them trying to run that lesser evil thing has an endorsement. Though idk how much we can say that’s the DSA’s fault because at that point, that’s just looking for ways to blame us.

The DSA didn’t officially endorse him, as the other person said, and also I think what support they mentioned has been fully rescinded now. Also, you can just have your own stance, you aren’t obliged to agree with this ridiculous website that mostly doesn’t even agree with itself.

Nah yeah I I do have my own opinions, but I was mistaken that he had a DSA endorsement that would offer him done [Democratic-]socialist credibility. Turns out he actually has none at all (as it should be).
