Ireland is going slower than most places. feels like the main quality of our government is that they don’t do anything, just minimal upkeep on the neoliberal status quo and funnelling money to landlords. economically we’re in a bad spot, and were ahead of the curve on getting there, but the fascism is creeping in at a slower pace than a lot of euro countries. since the govt have no interest in disenfranchisement of fascists it is ticking along though and probably a matter of time before they start outright catering to them more (already underway with the legitimising of the so called “immigration issue”). it’s also very obvious that we are a popular target for various monied right wing foreign interests. for now it’s basically a lot less shit here than the other anglo countries and certainly germany and france. Spain is a less bad place to live for now but their soc dem reforms could be taken away overnight
