It’s not my place to say how Palestinians should show the world what was being done to them, but this is just a thought I had (and it was insulting enough for FIFA to actually suggest Palestine should play Israel in the first place).

Israel has crippled many of Palestine’s football players, shooting them in the knees to destroy their sport careers. Many of these players go on to play in the disabled versions of those sports.

A part of me wishes Palestine had agreed and sent their crippled players to play, so people can get a visceral image of what was being done to Palestinians and can start talking about it; most of these players (if not all of them) were maimed BEFORE October 7th.

The point isn’t to win, it’s to remind people of what’s actually being done to Palestinians; of course doubtless FIFA would stop the match.

I also understand how disgusted Palestinians would feel about playing against Israel; probably akin to that Vietnamese general who refused to accept a nobel peace prize because he would have had to accept it alongside Kissinger.
