    Liberals believe in this because they’re so detached from political input they’ve decided politics must necessarily operate through spectacle and reaction. If you react incorrectly, it changes the nature of the spectacle, is how they see it.

    I think part of this is also the sheer prevalence of media people in the Democratic party. It’s a party full of people with chronic media-brain.
