Funny, this is the kind of stuff that broke the spell for me: the idea that “the only thing worse than being exploited in a capitalist system is not being exploited”

That sub is filled with bots and actively paid think tank shills hired by consulting firms, maybe even a fed or two coaming for clients

Of course that will attract a couple dozen genuine trust fund incel sociopaths who like to roleplay as Andrew Ryan or whoever the main character is from Atlas Shrugged

“If they didn’t have sweatshops, they would just die” (ignoring how they lived before this and the economic manipulation imposed by such entities as the IMF and WorldBank)

The left’s anti-sweatshop discourse had two main points:

The first is that commodity dumping was putting people out of work in domestic industries and driving them into cities and sweatshops. Modern day trade deal driven inclosure.

The second is that sweatshops need to be organized and have all the protections of production in the first world both so that those workers are protected and so they stop undercutting American workers.

Responding to these points by saying “well at least sweatshops give people jobs” is not responding insightfully with a hard truth, it is responding with a threat.
