Yeah old magic the artwork has that fantastic like mid-90’s fantasy metal aesthetic going for it. When you hit later additions and the rise of digital artwork, idk, it lost something.
One of the problems of digital is you’re always limited by the number of pixels technology can handle. So every artist, no matter how different, ends up drawing the same line. Real life doesn’t have that, so you can see where an artist’s hand wobbles or where they held their breath. Digital has gotten better, but still isn’t quite able to capture those minute differences. You end up with everyone’s technique looking the same.
That and WotC have gotten even worse about paying artists or providing them with reasonable deadlines.
Makes sense, I’ve only ever done art by hand never digital.
