      Yeah I was going to say, I’m no audiophile but I always assumed cassettes were at the bottom of the barrel when it came to quality. I remember the jump from that to CD and it was huge. Hell, my mom had records I liked to play over cassettes as a kid because it sounded better. Thriller was big in our house.

        I loved making tapes for myself in the 1970s and - of course - lots of other people did too. We knew cassettes sounded worse but there was no alternative. It’s weird to me that - as far as I know - in the last few decades no company even tried to make an all digital physical media thing with at least a minimal cassette vibe.

        For example: “I made this mixtape for you…” has a charm like nothing else.
