I still have a few back-issues of this series, the technology detail stood out even though it didn’t follow canon at the time. Looked into the mangaka during pandemic to seek out their other works and found it was mostly doujin.
The plot summaries for
are hilarious to me. I think it’s the implication that someone might actually want to read exclusively for the incredibly lame, contrived plots.

I absolutely loved this manga as a kid—come to think of it, it’s the first manga I read by a long shot, well before I even knew what manga was (this was published flopped). I ought to go back and read the whole thing, since I think I only had the first two volumes or of four.
Chopper can canonically change size and shape though. Definitely some circumstances where I’d want to be bigger or smaller!
