I had to suffer and die with cancer, so no one else should get a cure either!
I’d be pretty pissed too if I died and people were still asking my opinion on political matters.
😂
Now now, let’s not get political here. We’ve got plenty food, housing, and healthcare shortages with capitalism-driven rising temperatures to kill everyone—all lives matter (little enough for governments and corporations to not grind you up for the investors)
“The GOP is actively preventing Biden from passing legislation. That makes them bad!”
“Biden isn’t able to pass any good legislation. That makes him equally as bad!”
A generation of people got fucked with student loan debt. It is wrong. Debt forgiveness does not fix the root of the problem though. Government needs to find a way to lower post secondary costs.
does not fix the root of the problem
Sure.
lower post secondary costs
um. No; Free Education. Free education fixes the root of the problem.
It’s always an interesting balance the conservatives try. They want a strong country and economy. But they also want to keep religious opinions respected above science and exclusive access. Education is the best means of truly making America Great. If every American was educated and had the ability to learn critical decision making, conservatives would be a true minority.
Conservatives already are a true minority.
Conservatives have not won the popular vote in a presidential election since 1988 with one exception (Bush Jr.'s reelection during the post-9/11 surge of patriotism). So, in the last 8 presidential elections over the course of 32 years, conservatives won the popular vote once (edit: and I’d argue that even that win was an aberration caused by 9/11 and the Bush administration’s misinformation campaign regarding WMD’s in Iraq).
Might I suggest a version of this for all states? Tuition, fees, and books for all I state in public universities (income based)
https://www.mass.edu/osfa/programs/massgrantplusexp.asp
all tuition and mandatory instructional fees will be covered with grant aid for Pell Grant-eligible public higher education
Biden isn’t able to pass any good legislation.
Old enough to remember 2009, when the Senate had a 60 vote majority but Joe Lieberman kept threatening to join the filibuster with Republicans, so nothing could pass. He famously gutted the Public Option from the ACA with no effort by Obama to save it. Then in 2016, Chuck Schumer allowed an open SCOTUS seat to languish for 11 months because he didn’t want to hold up any other Senate business for Mitch McConnell. Then in 2020, Dianne Feinstein couldn’t stale the Judiciary Committee for even 3 months to keep ACB out in time for Biden to take office - ACB was seated a week before the general election. Then you’ve got trillions in bank bailouts, an SEC that doesn’t prosecute obvious financial crimes, and an IRS that primarily prosecutes people earning under $20k/year. And every fucking thing that McKinsey Consultant Pete Buttigieg stands for.
This isn’t just a Joe Biden problem, although the guy who gave Strom Thurmond’s Eulogy is definitely a part of the problem. This is a party that exists entirely as a placeholder when Republicans aren’t in power, in order to guarantee only business-friendly legislation and war funding is ever under consideration.

You haven’t fixed the issue that caused them to fall over the edge, therefore it’s pointless to help them.
-Idiots arguing against student loan forgiveness.
Same argument, different scenario.
“Why would he help them out of the polar bear enclosure? We haven’t fixed the hole in the fence up top yet.”
This version even allows for victim blaming.
“Why help them out of the polar bear enclosure? They knew what they were doing when they entered through the hole in the fence.”
I’m for forgiveness AND fixing the problem. One without the other is just moving money from taxpayers to banks.
I increasingly feel like the best (though imperfect) solution that has a realistic chance of happening is just to make student loans dischargeable in bankruptcy. This would provide people with huge loans and no job prospects a way out while avoiding giving free money to well paid professionals who don’t really need it. It would also incentivize schools to invest tuition dollars in ways to actually help graduates find employment rather than flashy facilities to bring in freshmen.
Poor students would have a harder time finding loans to go to expensive schools but it seems increasingly like elite colleges aren’t much better than public colleges anyway.
Absolutely. That has to be allowed.
I’m for forgiveness AND fixing the problem.
That would cost money, though. We’re very fiscally conservative around here and we all agree that we shouldn’t spend any money.
-Idiots arguing against student loan forgiveness.
“First fix the issue that impacts ME (loan forgiveness), then later fix the root cause that impacts literally everyone (high tuition). And shit on anyone who doesn’t prioritize my loan forgiveness first! Because I signed a legally-binding contract, spent the money, but now don’t feel like I should have to pay it back under the terms I agreed to! Fuck all the students who get loans after me, those who are paying them back as per their loan agreements, and those who chose not to go to college because they knew they couldn’t afford the loans. Amirite? Me me me!”
-idiots pretending their selfish cries about getting their loans forgiven equates to liberalism
Loan forgiveness is an important step, but it’s not the first or even the most important step. It’s very telling where your priories are (and how fake your politics are) if you make forgiving your student loans the first and loudest piece of the actual problem.
in-between bong hits
“How could Biden DO this, man! I’m not voting!”
Don’t diss marijuana users like that. They’re usually pretty chill people.
pretty much. most of the users I know (some medical, some recreational) have a damn clear eyed grasp of the current domestic and international situation.
Pretty sure that’s the reason a lot of them/us might be using.
I love the ironic metaphor
My loans JUST got discharged and I feel such a weight lifted off my shoulders. Granted, they’ve been discharged through a class action lawsuit due to heavy corruption in the school system ( literally horror stories of them dragging students out of class to the deans office and saying “we need more money or you can’t graduate”)
But regardless, it’s nice to have them off my back, i sincerely hope everyone else gets to feel this feeling soon
They forgot the first panel… You know, the one where Biden pushes the millennial off the edge in the first place
How the fuck do you rationalize that I wonder

As a senator in the 70’s, Biden helped write the bill that prevented student loans from being discharged in bankruptcy.

He did his own research
Lol kids blaming decades of bullshit on Biden
Coincidentally, biden’s career as a politician is decades long.
