I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.
Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

Maybe we should try a society without the state?
But that’s Communism
No. That’s anarchy.
fallout 3 was released when the brotherhood were essentially militaristic hermits
The Brotherhood has been authoritian racist tech bros since FO1, with most of their expanded lore coming out of Tactics long before FO3 was even a concept. Their goals were to take technology (that they didn’t even understand) to keep it out of the wrong hands, while also eliminating any non-humans they encounter. They grew in rank by essentially running protection rackets and straight up conscripting wastelanders into slavery.
They are portrayed this way right from the get go, you just have to actually do some digging and read their holotapes to find out how bad they really are in the first two games if you didn’t get the hint from your first encounter with them where they literally send you to a giant irrated hole in the ground, expecting you to die as a way of saying “get lost and go fuck yourself.”
Bethesda tried to make them less evil and less stupid in 3.
Same with Fallout fans who are oddly obsessed with The Brotherhood of Steel.

Well it also has visible vote counts on the posts themselves, just no outward facing accumulated score of all your posts.
Back in the day games were hard (often in unfair ways) to stretch out the game, because there was only like 4 levels and if it was easy you’d be finished in a single afternoon.
Now games are thousands of hours long and they hold your hand every step of the way to make sure you actually see all that content; and then the majority of players quit after completing only about 1/4th of the total game.
This is probably why I love Soulslikes so fucking much. I grew up with the first kind, and have suffered long enough with the latter kind. Soulslikes are the perfect blend of new and old school design philosophy (when done right). Tough, but also not short. They don’t hold your hand, but they don’t exactly keep you entirely in the dark on how to play. They reward community action not just in the game with the message systems, but also because it doesn’t spoon-feed you everything, certain deeper ideas are discovered more from talking to other players who found things you missed; which is something we did back in the day before the internet.

It’s not a private business, and it claims to be not-for-profit. Everywhere surrounding the city (including all the smaller towns) is handled by PG&E afaik, tho.
At least you get a whole 30 days.
Black History Month is February. At best they get 29 days every few years.
