Sounds like you’re not American right? There is already pushback at GOP town halls and many conservatives who disapprove of what is going on overall. Unfortunately they’re not capable of empathy until it affects them, but they’re starting to get personally affected. Also it’s only going to get worse and negatively affect even more people, so at that point their own personal circumstances will outweigh whatever Fox News tells them to think about everything.

There’s a delicate balance of copium/hope to keep us going, and actual understanding of reality. You can’t completely give up hope because that just leads to inaction and surrender. Use any hope you get and channel into “GTFO energy” for this regime.

All things said and done, this isn’t the worst pick I’ve seen in this hellscape administration. I was fully expecting an Exxon CEO or something. It’s still extremely worrying how easy Jacobs can throw away any scientific integrity for Trump’s loyalty (e.g. Sharpiegate).

The real alternative is to restructure our incentives systems (i.e. capital market regulations), but that’s the absolute last thing that will ever happen. Carbon taxes are a step in that direction but are still just a tiny bandaid on a gaping wound.
