It saves ewaste. In 6 years, will macOS still be supported on these machines? Maybe. Will an open source distro be supported? If it’s still thriving, yeah.

Name one statically typed language that doesn’t have that property. Name one non statically typed language that has that property.
All static typing means is that types don’t change, eg you can’t declare a var as a string and later assign a number to it.
People don’t understand that JIT languages are still compiled, JIT literally describes when it’s compiled.
That said, F# and/or OCaml.
Wages in socialism?? 😂😂
I wish more people were aware of and as vocally critical of copyright laws as you.
I learned early in my software engineering career these two beautiful rules of debugging:
If you have seniority and they are a junior, some juniors do respond well to a senior having more knowledge about the codebase. With them, it can be beneficial to use a tone like “We have library X that seems like it could do a lot of the functionality here, unless you already took a look?” I know it’s like 90% of the same but I know people who will just be shellshocked and just blindly say “yes” to any question you ask them, and I don’t want a blind “yes” I wanna know the truth :) it also lets then explain why they didn’t use it if they have a legit reason because hey, maybe I’m the one who needs to be caught up
I’m a socialist. I understand market forces and I wish more people did. Technology itself can help the lower class. Government protection of technology (patents, copyright) will always hinder them.
lowering the barrier to entry without protecting the elite will bring about market forces necessary to defeat corporations—small sizes can move and adapt faster and try new things than those with institutional bureaucracy, who just follow the money and don’t innovate. Corporations learned this, and now use government protections (copyright, patents) to prevent these new, necessary, market forces. I don’t like the “economic” terms myself, but it’s not rocket science that corporations benefit from cops (aka law enforcement aka laws).
We can remove the restrictions on new market forces by reducing IP protections, prevent corporations from mucking with newbies by preventing them from getting uncompetitive protections, or by stealing from corporations without regard for the law. I think we should steal more, honestly.
Stopping technology has never worked, though. I understand the plight of artists, but I’m extremely excited for the new human artists that dream up art that AI can’t create because it hasn’t been fathomed before.
ACK
I wouldn’t say JavaScript is horrible, it’s a fine little language to do general things in if you know JS well. I would say, though, that it is not a great language. Give me F# and I’m happy forever. I do not like typescript that much more than JS.
It’s quoting the source who used that specific term
At some point there’s proprietary stuff in our bodies, be it a driver, a BIOS or the code that runs on the various microcontrollers that run low level functions from the USB ports to simple power management.
The most “security paranoid” organizations in the world usually run a lot of stuff on children and babies are full of opaque and proprietary code and they consider it “safe enough”.
People are replacing lost/damaged organs and limbs with computer-controlled hardware. The same problems that occur in computers that exist outside of humans will occur in computers inside of humans. Do you trust non-open drivers from Corporation X or Government Y in your eyes telling your brain what you do or don’t see?
That’s the extreme, of course, but it isn’t any less scary than computers you trust with your credit card, bank account, etc information.
Open source drivers means when corporation X goes under, your hardware still can work and isn’t automatically abandoned. It keeps more hardware out of landfills longer, with the ability to drastically reduce e-waste.
Same thing for music and when you are like 15–17
Sounds like Nixos with extra steps
Ah yes, that time several years ago when the dems won last election, the republicans responded by “sliding left”. When the dems win 2024 the republicans will also be very civilized and non violent and slide even further left. Non-whites and LGBT people everywhere in America will be safer the night Joe Biden is elected than the night before, you heard it here from HauntedCupcake first!
So what if voting blue will end up with innocent people dying? Their sacrifice for my freedom will not go without honor. I will enshrine their lives with a statue commemorating their bravery in the fight for my freedom. The lives of innocent trans people, black people, and Palestinian children is a steep cost but it’s one I’m willing to spend for me to go to Starbucks and get a latte for $9. Who’s to say my life is worth more than theirs? Well Joe Biden made that determination for us, so I believe that’s right! I’m glad it’s a bunch of random black and brown people getting blown to bits for my right to vote, not me!
yeah I’m forever voting blue no matter who. The republican candidate will always be a fascist. It will never end with Trump. It’s going to be fascist vs not fascist blue vote and I will eat whatever shit the blue vote shits out. More cops? I’m all for it, not a fascist dictator. Support Israel? Fine with me, not a fascist dictator. It sucks but that’s just America now for the next thousand or so years, fascism or something else. Better hope the something else isn’t closer to fascism than before or else you’re fucked.
