Edit: It felt too much like I was saying for poor people to just deal with it so I might rephrase it.
If they push hard enough eventually there will be a replacement.
Federation could solve this. All you need is one flagship instance that doesn’t allow uploads, but it allows users to create accounts and playlists to act as “the” site for the federated network and then content creators can start their own instances.
I was wondering about this. If they didn’t keep track of who is voting, manipulation would be easier then it already is. The problem is that rogue instance admins could make votes public.
That’s one of the problems with archiving everything. I lean in favor of the IA, but there are still issues.
Can you elaborate on the last part?
TBH I can understand that it’s a problem for people who aren’t expecting it. If they disregard instructions not to index things then that’s also a problem. The only real way to prevent scrapers from replicating content is to place it behind a registration wall.
Reddit also has vote fuzzing where you can get the number of votes, but it’s always manipulated for some reason.
I don’t understand the point, and tbh it’s a serious case of social media mind fuckery. It’s a real problem for anyone who creates an incredibly specific subreddit for use by a group and then everyone is left wondering who keeps downvoting them. That can have real life consequences for anyone who doesn’t understand what is happening.

On an individual level, having a massive archive of everything you’ve ever posted isn’t always a good thing, especially when mentally ill people will quote mine a single post and then try to misuse it.
It is God who ridicules them, and leaves them bewildered in their transgression.

It might also depend on what kind of school it is.
Classrooms don’t have to have windows.
I’m not sure I’d call them “trolls.”
I think Lemmy and the fediverse in general is vulnerable to bot manipulation because no one is going to give out personal information to random instances.
There are users on !autism@lemmy.world who say that they get accused of being bots.
Sexual selection usually takes care of problems like this. People with antisocial tendencies find it extremely difficult to find partners.
In my experience, libertarians tend to be extremely moderate conservatives who don’t want to submit to God.
If there’s no competition, then providers can just make up any price that they want and the government has to pay it.
When there’s an entirely planned economy, there’s no possibility for alternatives to be created.
I want there to be a viable public option that exists. The alternative would be to require that everyone get coverage.
This is probably where I align economically, but I support statist mandates that are inconsistent with “individual libertarianism” or “civil libertarianism.”
For example, we should decriminalize drug use, but there should absolutely be a strong statist intervention where people are forced to stop using drugs.
Libertarians are the right wing version of 20 year old socialists who want free stuff and have no understand of what really drives and motivates people.
I tend to lean left but I’m incredibly disappointed with the state of the political landscape.
I wouldn’t say that Gab used to be an exclusively neo Nazi site, but now that Twitter allows standard conservative discussions, all the normal people probably left Gab for Twitter and now Gab is probably more of a Nazi shithole.
I have seen openly Jewish people on Gab but you couldn’t go 10 posts without finding something blatantly racist.
