Well played. It makes a lot of sense.
You opened this can of worms, you’re gonna go fishing.
Ohh so that’s what that phrase came from.
lemonaz@lemmy.worldto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Bill Gates vows to give away 99 per cent of his fortune by 2045English1·2 months agoOnce you have over a billion in wealth, you’ve won the game of life.
More like the game of 100 lives. I’m using $10m as a gross estimation for what a person living comfortably needs to spend throughout their whole life. Sure it varies by country and other factors, but this amount should more than cover a lifestyle in which you literally don’t need to worry about a thing. No need for sketchy investments either: just stuff it in a deposit and you could live off the interest alone, but that’s assuming you have all the money at once.
She was briefly on Trump’s plane. Around the debate with Harris. It’s likely he took the “eating the pets” line from her, since that was a rumor spread in nazi circles, particularly on Gab.
It’s also possible they had an affair during that time. MTG got really angry with Loomer and they started trashing each other on Twitter for all to see. It was glorious.
I mean… It’s Laura Loomer. She’s like bottom of the barrel QAnon nazi.
Stalinism was no extreme left. It was fascism, but with Marxist aesthetics.
Fascists are con men, and cons work on what’s popular with the masses. You can build an arbitrary dogma and cult of personality around anything, even Marxism.
I’d argue that Marxism is actually great for that purpose: it gets a lot of stuff right so it’s close to reality, there’s an us vs them dynamic already built in, and it’s just complicated enough to the average person that it makes it easy for an authoritarian con man to disingenuously simplify it, distort it and dogmatize it into basically a state religion. Then it’s just about pointing fingers to identify the enemy, i.e. who is burgeois/reactionary/etc and needs to go.

I’m still glad he called Elon out. Let them fight.

lemonaz@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Judge cautions prosecutors in healthcare exec murder trial to refrain from public comments14·2 months agoIn a world where Kyle fucking Rittenhouse was found not guilty, the flimsy evidence they have on Luigi should never stick. But the goal here is a swift win, so they’re trying to frame an innocent man and make him an example.
The markdown for the pic is slightly incorrect and causing problems on my app so here’s the fix:

lemonaz@lemmy.worldto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Trump Says Voters Signed up for His Tariffs When They Backed HimEnglish1·2 months agoOh yeah, and a lot of trumpers love them. They’re still in denial. They’ll say it’s a roller coaster of emotions and that they hope things will be better, they hope Trump will make the right decisions, etc. But if you ask them point blank about the tariffs or any other policies, they’ll start by saying how great they are, then gradually talk about the concerns while still being hopeful. Again, it’s denial. They need to suffer more, unfortunately.

“Don’t worry, you can just sue them and drag it in courts for decades because they have armies of lawyers. Look, it’s just part of the process so we can have Freedom TM©®.”
I did not think that was real. But it really is…

lemonaz@lemmy.worldtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•*World's tiniest violin starts playing*1·3 months agoI always thought of it as reaping that which you sow. As in, you can’t expect to reap one thing if you sowed something else. The premise is that you intend to reap something — the point of the saying is that you shouldn’t act surprised at what that thing is, because it can’t be anything else than what you planted.
I know I basically said the same thing multiple times, just trying to be clear.
I’m sure RFK Jr. is on the case and will fix it. Any day now…
