  • You’re right. It’s almost like we could benefit from some sort of…consumer financial protection bureau.

Joking aside, this is a hard problem to solve with multinational corporations running the show. I certainly don’t think we sufficiently regulate corps in the states, quite the opposite really - they buy politicians in a legalized bribery scheme we call “campaign finance donations,” and are never held accountable for this type of predatory behavior.

This problem is 10x worse on an international scale, no idea how to solve for it. Maybe something like the TPP could have helped but not sure.

  • Democratic politicians feel this way because they are mostly friends with their colleagues across the aisle. They all eat at the same luncheons together, hang out at the same establishments in DC, attend the same fundraisers and lobbying events.

I think the voters tend to have a different point of view from those in DC. Consider that even Republican lawmakers were running for their life on Jan6. Dem voters are growing fatigued with the constant gaslighting from the establishment politicians, and hopefully soon might provide cause for their “elected representatives” to flee as well. At this point we’ve been left with painfully few alternatives.

Lastly just want to say I do agree with full treason charges for anyone involved with Jan6. Obstruction was a laughable wrist slap, this is far too serious for such measures. The rioters kind of had the right idea but for literally all of the wrong reasons. It’s tea party republicans all over again (which was funded by Koch bros of course). Instead of addressing this in a serious manner, Dems considered doing nothing at all for 2 years before they finally started bringing the wrong charges. Pathetic.

  • Are you claiming he announced this as part of his campaign? The misinformation around this brain worm stuff is pretty astounding, as are people’s glee in dogpiling over it.

    Because facts do matter:

    • RFK Jr found and removed the brain worm 15 years ago.
    • It’s an incredibly common parasite which most often is contracted in large scale livestock farms, the kind of which he was litigating in the 2000s.
    • Almost 2 Billion people have or have had this same parasite in their lifetimes.
    • The story was resurfaced earlier this year in May once it became apparent he was a threat to the Trump campaign, by the New York Post (owned by Fox News Corp).

  • Wish we had a party who gave a shit in order to vote for this, and that it were a much bigger plank of their platform. It’s a disgrace that anyone is unhoused in the richest nation on Earth.

I can’t even begin to describe how much more I would prefer we do this, than to continue fattening the wallets of boomers who own multiple homes and only live in one of them. We literally don’t invest in building new housing in order to maintain this status quo, and it’s absurd.

This opinion is all over cable news in the US.

Even the Biden campaign claims that “polling is wrong” and he will win comfortably. The hubris is astounding.

However, to those who would post memes like this, pointing out these types of delusion is tantamount to supporting Trump. It’s an incredibly unhealthy alternative universe to exist in, and the only outcome of doing so will be a crushing Dem defeat come November. I’m not even talking about swing states here - even in New York Biden is only up by 9% now because of his unwavering support of genocide and refusal to improve the path for immigration, among many other shortcomings.

  • Likewise. I fear that absent change on Biden’s part, he will lose anyway.

This is the really important part the enlightened centrists and blue MAGA in this thread are ignoring, much to their own peril if they’re to be believed. Biden does actually suck. His outmoded policies are so unpopular, his campaign so devoid of energy, that him losing come November is virtually guaranteed. He’s down in polling in every swing state but one. I know it must be very embarrassing to the card carrying democrats, the prospect of losing to the criminal traitor Trump. But if Biden doesn’t change course drastically and immediately, it’s going to happen. And most importantly - it won’t be the fault of the voters who point to his shortcomings in public discourse. The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of Biden and the DNC for not allowing any alternative whatsoever.

So considering that, thank you @Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world for speaking truth to power in such a hostile landscape. Hopefully it doesn’t completely fall on old, deaf ears.
