Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•An Update on Jordan Lund and a Goodbye to Lemmy.world
1·2 months agoI understand time is needed for a proper review as well as needing additional time to accommodate for the fact that it’s all run by volunteers.
However, most of us simply want transparency. There has been no formal announcement thread on this to my knowledge, just replies to the threads that get started about it.
If you’re investigating, announce what, why, and how far along. Give us details as to what’s going on and the options that are on the table. It doesn’t have to be a meticulous blow-by-blow, but the transparency so far is on the other end of the extreme. Maybe if y’all were trying to move against him before he knew what was happening I could see it, but there’s no way he doesn’t know what’s going down at this point.

Transfem@lemmy.blahaj.zone•Remove Nutomic from Lemmy development for transphobia - Change.orgEnglish
7·3 months agoIt does show he is not going to learn from or sincerely apologize for his transphobic statement
Furthermore, I think it’s perfectly fine to bring up such a problematic statement from a person, no matter how old it is, for as long as it’s still relevant. Just because he isn’t making statements publicly doesn’t mean he doesn’t still believe these things, or takes actions (e.g. voting) that supports these statements.
If he had retracted his statements, gave a sincere apology and made some effort to educate himself then it would be different. Then I’d be right along with you in stating that it should just be allowed to rest.
But given that Nutomic has clearly demonstrated that he hasn’t done any of that in the time since his original statement, then it’s fair game to keep such things about his character in the public mind

LMAOOOO
Making the 2 smaller ones not touch each other or one of the small ones not touching with the big one would do it
It was crossposted as part of .ml boycott efforts
Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.
Some highlights from the link:
"Don’t worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167
“See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn’t count!!” ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342
.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068
“NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035
General negative sentiment to other instances who haven’t “seen the way” yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510
“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415
And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

It’s right in the intro, though it doesn’t specify “The West” specifically, it is an apt summary.
Also this was a .ml crosspost, but I did not find the title to be misrepresentative, so I left it

Do you know how little that narrows it down
Metal won’t work because wireless charging is expected for most phones
It’s not an impossible problem to solve, Qi just doesn’t care. Qualcomm solved it with their wireless charging standard 10 years ago
Leaves glass and plastic, which are both found on premium phones.
I don’t think I’ve seen a “premium” phone with a plastic back in a LONG time
it feels and looks nicer than plastic and doesn’t scratch as easily
There’s a wide range of plastics, it gets a bad rap because of the cheap shit that’s often used, but there’s absolutely a “high end” plastic side of the scale that can beat glass and not nearly as fragile
Taking into account manufacturers somehow decided that glass, a very fragile material ESPECIALLY when thin, should be the ✨premium✨ material and all decent phones NEED to be wrapped in it…
Maybe there’s some truth to that lmao

71·4 months agolmao what did you just say about Hexbear, lib? 💀 I’ll have you know I’m a tier-5 giga-brained poster with a PhD in Leninist praxis from the University of Posters, and I have 300+ confirmed dunks on Lemmy.ml sockpuppets. I was radicalized in the trenches of r/ChapoTrapHouse, forged in the fires of permabans, and tempered in the meme wars of 2019. You are literally nothing to me but another bootlicker running on 80% State Dept. talking points and 20% soy. I will ratio you so hard your precious little upvote count will never recover. You think you can just roll up in here, talk shit about Hexbear, and not get absolutely obliterated by dialectical praxis in 4K? Think again, bucko. As we speak, my cadre of Discord tankies are screen-capping your posts, cross-referencing them with your cringe comment history, and drafting a 12-point rebuttal with citations from Stalin, Mao, and that one screenshot of Bernie saying ‘chill with the anti-communism.’ The storm that’s coming for you is called material conditions, and guess what? They’re not in your favor. I’ve got Lenin’s collected works and a folder full of spicy memes, and I’m not afraid to deploy both. You’re already owned, kid. You just don’t know it yet. Now go touch grass, comrade, before I drop another 3k-word comment that makes you cry and log off.
