  • Terrot 500 RGSTA ?

    Peugeot 175 D4 ?

From this forum (en français bien sûr). It speak about motorbike since 1950, so that would make sense with Indochine and I think I can recognise some of the models from archive photos. It says that before 1950, French army used a bunch of brands like BMW, Harley, Triumph, Gnome et Rhone and others from 1930 and WWII, but from 1950 and onwards they tried to harmonise the material and the list is on the forum.

Otherwise, your best bet would be searching for CEFEO material (corps expéditionnaire français en Extrême-Orient) as it was the more involved in the war.

There is a book about material used in this war but I don’t know if they wrote anything about motorbikes.

The forum from the first link seems to be a good source of information tho.

  • Tbh French far right and some Christian are crying here as well. Basically saying the whole ceremony was a disgrace, woke bla-bla-bla, they even criticized the kids at the beginning for being “from immigration”.

The funny thing is that organizers decided to annoy the fuck out of them when the announcement of Aya Nakamura (the woman singing with the national guard during the ceremony) was received with racism from far right and twitter.

That day they said to themselves “ok, we’re going full inclusive and fuck then all”.

That’s a job well done, bonus point for making maga cult cry as well from the other side of the Atlantic.

  • I can’t answer for your societal questions since I don’t really care about them. But I do it from time to time only for my self esteem.

I smoked for years and became self conscious about my teeth becoming yellow-ish. So I don’t smoke anymore and do a whitening maybe once a year at max.

It’s a bit like sport, I feel better in my body so I am more happy, social and smile/laugh more.

  • I am not sure what you’re working on but from your answers I’ve read you seems to need access to a lot of information with a few keystrokes, like searching for a keyword or tag.

In my opinion you are using the wrong tool for that. Ditch the browser and learn about the Zettelkasten way of working. It is really powerful for plenty of applications like science, studies, dev, or even the way I use it, author repository of ideas/concepts/stuff I need when writing a book.

You can do that with several software but I like obsidian for that (and because of all its plugins you could probably find something to automatically copy webpage content)

    On the downside side :

    • You’ll have to learn Zettelkasten, Obsidian etc
    • Obviously do the work of writing (or copy pasting) your vault.

But on the plus size :

    • You’ll have all the information you need at your fingertips, searchable with keywords, tags, associations etc.
    • Everything is basic text MD files so it will still be readable by any text editor or terminal in the next century.
    • You can have images, run code, do some mathlib, jupyter etc inside.
    • Text is light, easy to store, backup and retrieve.
    • If you do good enough you can have a satisfying visual representation of your new brain, kinda mindmap (which is also possible)

  • 45km/h e-scooter ?? Those things with tiny wheels where you stand on a small platform ?

They must have a death wish for that. 45km/h on a bicycle (electric or road bike) is already a bit too fast in most situations.

Between 35 and 38km/h is my perfect spot for riding in cities and is the usual speed on flat of a good road bike (not rode by a professional, those guys are crazy fast).

I think there is a Northern Europe country (ofc it’s Northern Europe…) where the limit isn’t 25 and 45 but 38.

If we had one unique class at 38km/h the world would be a better place.

  • I’ve read it was just to shit with Microsoft by announcing that computers were tools of the past for gaming AND non gaming (and earn money).

Pushing Microsoft to invest billions to develop the Xbox on Windows (which ultimately did not run on windows) to shit with Sony, and earn money…

  • I solved that problem by using a tiling window manager on every OS. Configure it to use your favorite shortcuts (from i3wm in this case), put super + spacebar as the whatever launcher you like and tadaaaa!

Everything feels more or less the same.

I do that since I became addicted to i3wm years ago. The worst part is just remembering the keywords to type in the launcher according to what OS you’re on.

  • An arcade center VR headset.

This was in the 90s or early 2000 when VR was non existent to consumers. During holidays visiting the US we ended up in this arcade center, probably in LA, where they had circled booths with an old FPS VR game that you play standing up. The headset looked like a helmet and was plugged from the top.

During my game, I turned on myself (360 no scope style) so much and always in the same direction that the cables got tangled and finally broke, probably with a little spark and some electrical sound. Game over.

As a French preteen, my English was bad and all I remember is the “shiiiiiiit” the worker said when he looked at the headset and cables.

    Sorry buddy 🤷🏻‍♂️
