I’d say dying by nuke doesn’t sound like a bad deal right now, honestly. Better than internment camp or wasting away as an elderly person in an isolationist society with no medical care or safety net after working constantly to make others rich. The problem is worldwide, too. It’s not just the US.

I agree with this. I almost just want to get a dumb phone for calls and a hotspot with a pinephone or something for everything else.

I’m in the US, and unfortunately, there is an escalating data threat with the latest Supreme Court Ruling that will allow uncleared parties (or poorly cleared parties) to access our government personal data. When combined with the broligarchy data, the aggregate of those becomes extremely dangerous to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of people. Life is short, but we’re in an emergency crisis, in my opinion. Data protection is a civic duty at this point. The carelessness could very well create a caste system here.

It’s hard to talk to people about this. Nobody seems to understand it. Kind of reminds me 10 or so years ago when the “I have nothing to hide” team ignored me as I warned about Internet privacy and the impact on swaying opinions and controlling experiences. This threat level is way higher.

I play bass. Metallica cut Newsted’s bass line out of And Justice for All. I’ll hate them for it forever. I love Trujillo now and still have not listened to a single Metallica album since he’s played with them.
