Also, madness cyclops beam incantation is my fave against invaders 👌
MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.websiteto Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes@lemmy.zip•[Discussion] I don't feel like Soulslikes need to keep getting harderEnglish6·29 days agoThey can make it harder by adding features that reduce the effectiveness of player skills sharpened in previous titles.
In Elden Ring, jump is sometimes better than roll but you only discover this by facing bosses where jump is much much better then roll. Radagon fight comes to mind but there’s probably many others.
In a sense they made the game harder for those skilled at rolling by offering a complementary way to avoid damage. Now the skill ceiling has raised to knowing when to use which one instead of just knowing when to roll.
This adds both difficulty for veterans and easiness for first-timers.

It's my first full playthrough of any Soulsborne.English2·29 days agoHave you tried charging with Torrent then dismounting into a jump attack?
With the raptor shirt and jump talisman and a second Curved Greatsword (Morgott’s sword to stack bleed with Bloodhound Fang) you can drop some serious hurt.
That’s what worked for me on Elden Beast, just jousting with jump attacks 🤣
Good luck and congrats on Malenia, that’s the real accomplishment

I feel the bigwigs for Star Trek would sacrifice us all, in a heartbeat, for their own Grogu to get the kiddos buying merch.

If so, can you point me in the right direction? I definitely have some scenes with this treatment in mind.

MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.websiteto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What are things that mildly annoy you in SciFi?English4·4 months agoI am mildly annoyed when an action scene essentially pauses so the heroes can have a small dialog scene.
I always find myself wondering: isn’t that bad guy, hull breach, detonation timer etc still there?
MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•Las Vegas, Nevada in the 24th Century?English1·5 months agoWe know Riker plays for keeps; Quark owes him platinum and tried to foist gift cards on him for payment.
We know the TNG poker games would also raise the stakes; Crusher challenges Riker, LaForge, and Worf to bet shaving their beards that one time.
We know that gambling lingo is still commonplace, even though Mariner doesnt know other slang from our era (eg what a pinup poster is)
I want to say that gambling never left and it makes me realize we’re sorely missing a proper heist episode. With Quark 👌
Edit: I am mistaken, I forgot about Moogie

After such a long wait I wanted another Origins or Inquisition, but I got something else and it was a fine, forgettable, C+ entry. A game that wants you to wave a giant foam finger instead have thoughtful choices, but at least it delivered an ending.

In war, there is nothing more honourable than victory.
Worf would absolutely jump out an airlock, drunk on honour, if it would actually mean victory.
But Worf wouldn’t jump out just to die for Gowron’s lulz.
MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How would the Trill Symbiosis Commission handle duplicate symbionts?English1·6 months agoThey could do an episode in this idea too, you got a stew going here 🤙
Some aliens arrive looking for Dax (who remembers them and why they’ve come) but then the aliens kidnap Dax!
After some science the crew learns that Dax must have diverged in the past and the aliens are seeking the Other Dax.
The crew finds the Other Dax, explains the situation, and cooks up a ruse to free both Dax and Other Dax.
Episode ends on Other Dax’s personal log detailing a trip home to the TSC.
MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How would the Trill Symbiosis Commission handle duplicate symbionts?English1·6 months agoLet’s go further, since they already lie about the number of symbionts.
The TSC would take an inspired approach and seek to discover the cloning process so they can scale symbionts to the entire population, and thus finally end the conspiracy.
You get a symbiont, and you get a symbiont, everyone gets a symbiont!
It was enlightening, thank you 🍻
