  • My Dad gave me a spare bike he happened upon, and seeing as I’ve recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I can’t walk or run, and a lot of exercise hurts, feels like trying to exercise after rolling down a massive set of stairs, in the worst way. But I’ve been energetic and active my whole life, so I miss it! I want to go into older age as fit as I can, to avoid as many health complaints, live longer to be around for my kids and just feel better, as it’s a mood lifter, being as toned as you can manage.

Plus, on just a pure joy, level, I absolutely loved riding my bike as a kid. I didn’t have the best childhood, but riding with the wind in my hair and how powerful pumping the pedals made me feel, gave me entire reprieve from whatever was happening, at that time. I felt like I could fly. I would build jumps out of whatever scrap I had, (and coincidentally, constantly had skun knees) and wander the neighbourhood, just visually soaking in all the gardens and beautiful flowers. I couldn’t see the future, as a kid, there was just right now, and I just sought whatever joy I could find, in any moment. And riding was pure joy. I’m really looking forward to fixing the seat I bought, tidying off some small bits of rust and building it into my week, as a regular thing. I even live right near a bike track. It’s a few houses down the street. I just have to get past this damn flu, I’ve caught, way before flu’s usually circulate. Then I’ll fly again.

  • Yes, but you’re leaving out the bit where the ceos are just as shitty a person / people, morally, as the board you talk about. They aren’t forced, they go along and agree. They hire people who align with their interests, aka agree with the shitty things they’re willing to do. It’s not like they’re some poor hard done by millionaire / billionaire who’s forced to do bad things to survive. They could also leave at any time and they wouldn’t suffer financially for doing so. They’re not being forced to do anything. They agree with their own decisions. Don’t fool yourself that they have morals, money to that degree turns your morals off entirely, if you ever had them.

  • It’s not that we expect them to be progressive, it’s actually that we expect them to stick to the teachings of the Bible, THATS the progressive but, because all the right wing crazies are, supposedly religious and they purport religion to give reason to their crazy shit. So when the top religious guy goes, nope, at them, it breaks all their coercive manipulations to excuse their evil bullshit AND bonus icing, it labels it evil for all to see. We want more. I’m not even religious, or American, and I’m invested.

  • But you’re operating from a state that, all people operate in good faith. These people will twist the narrative no matter what you do. They don’t wait for you to validate them. They twist reality and logic and manipulate events. There is no reasoning with these types. If you sit back and do nothing, they’ll twist that to their agenda just as much as if you do something. But sitting back guarantees a smooth path of no resistance, they get thier agenda easily. Resisting means they don’t get there as easily. Nobody in history made changes by sitting back and sending love vibes, my friend, I truly wish that were the case. Women lost their lives, just for the right to vote. How many rights have been removed or are under threat right now? I mean absolutely no disrespect, and I can see your logic, I just feel like maybe you aren’t personally familiar with these manipulative types. I get that you understand reactive abuse and you see they’re trying to use that, but it really doesn’t matter, they’ll do the same thing anyway, so maybe the path is somewhere in the middle, not giving them a reason, but not sitting back quietly and there’s no waiting for someone to oppose them, it’s now, right now.
