Caterpillar supply the israeli military with the bulldozers they have used for decades to demolish the homes of palestinians.

These collective punishment policies are explicitly forbidden under the geneva convention and formed the early stages of the ongoing genocide that caterpillar continue to profit from.

  • Ugh… not really. 😆

A lot comes from just personal experience - people instantly peg me as extroverted but i’m often deeply uncomfortable in groups. I find socialising either energizing or draining depending on who, how often, what else is going on in my life. I’ve seen self-identified introverts reveling in socialising and clearly feeling better for it. Even theories that take it seriously admit that everyone has a mix of both traits. We can’t say that people are either X or Y and also that everyone is a mix of both.

From my experience with my own, my dad’s, wife’s and friends’ struggles and from working in mental health, i’ve seen that isolation strongly correlates with doing worse. Studies also claim that extraverts are always happier - in aggregrate we’re better off when we socialize more. Being isolated or having only few or weak social connections is a weakness for a social mammal, and thus a stressor. Of course we are more likely to thrive with richer and more secure social resources.

I read Jung talking about it and it just seemed nonsense. Today psychology mostly agrees, but still uses the terms to talk about more and less sociable people. Known pseudo-science like the for-profit astrology that is Meyers-Briggs are really big on it.

If you just look at the blue and red list of traits on the wikipedia page i’m sure you’ll be able to think of times when you’ve experienced every trait on both sides.

  • Gentle reminder that introvert/extravert has no basis in fact. It’s just a meme based on some flawed semi-mystical reckonings of Jung.

We’re all social mammals. We all find socialising draining at different times and situations, we all tend to have worse mental health outcomes the more isolated we are, we all benefit from being part of an accepting social group.

  • It can be very hard to tell gender from bones archaeologically, even gender assigned at birth.

Specialists use the terms “gracile” vs “robust” because that’s what they’re actually seeing, not female vs male.

There have been some famous mis-identifications like the triple burial at dolni vestonice that was thought to be a husband and wife, maybe with a shaman who failed to save a baby, since the third person’s hand was in the woman’s crotch. Then ancient genetics confirmed they all had Y-chromosome. Oops!

  • Maybe we move in different circles but i don’t see leftists posting about how they refuse to fight fascism with anyone unless they voted for nader in 2000 or some such.

I see liberals and rich democrats still blaming everyone but kamala and the dnc for losing. I see a democratic party elite that still thinks they don’t need policies that americans want.

“A productive conversation about the next cycle” begins with listening to americans, not listing the allies you refuse to listen to.

  • The whole thing smells fishy but any reasonable assessment of the evidence presented here has to conclude there is no evidence.

“Trump seemed unconcerned” - yeah he barely knows where he is. “The secret service were incompetant” - as they often are “They posted a photo within minutes” - yeah they’re ghouls making political hay. “Pro israel trump figure seemed to know the ID before media” - which trump figures are anti israeli, why mention that? Of course they spread the info amongst themselves before the media, they’re all drunk assholes with no opsec.

It looks suss, the cheapest fascists russia could buy definitely might stage an assassination for sympathy, but there is no good evidence they did.

  • Oh well that’s younger than i expected as an early millenial, but i think of “puter” as a term from that cross-generational group i’ve heard described as “analogue childhood digital adolescence”. If you were also watching vhs as a kid it sounds like that includes you.

Do you remember, IRC, the sweet song of the modem and the pain of a parent picking up the phone while you were online? That’s what i think of when i hear Puter.

Tabletop rpg design uses the term “fail gracefully” to describe being able to still function when you forget the rules.

Older games used to regularly stop amd collapse into boring chart-reading and index-looking-up. A lot of modern games are entirely playable if you forget everything except the core mechanic.
