Games@lemmy.world•Day 296 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games l've been playingEnglish
1·10 months agoI agree. I love the style. But that being said, I have some younger family members (in their 20s) who are into gaming and they think this is some old school stuff that’s unappealing (they like modern RPGs).

13·10 months agoI really got to try Daggerfall, some of the mods radically improve the coherence and depth of the open world.
For some reason, I really like the graphical style (probably nostalgia).

Games@lemmy.world•Just months after reportedly cancelling two live service games in development, Sony announces a new PlayStation studio with a live service game in developmentEnglish
101·10 months agoThis is an excellent point. An organisation the size of Sony is simply incapable of not attempting a live service hit as long as they have the resources to do so.
A smaller player can pursue a strategy where they gain profits from their (somewhat specialized) segement of the market. Sony lacks that flexibility due to their size.

2·10 months agoThis is pretty funny.
Love for Sail is probably the pinnacle of the older LS releases.
Definitely worth checking out if the Leisure Suite Larry series seems appealing.
Zarya does look very interesting.

1·10 months agoI never backed (I only back single player games on Kickstarter). Just wanted to share with others the saga of this 12 years in-development indie crowdfunded MMO.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is the dead-simple(est) way to onboard compeltely new people to Lemmy/FeddyEnglish
1·10 months agoReplacing LW with another option works too.
I strongly believe any discussion around federation/centralization should be avoided when bringing in new users. They will figure it out themselves and if they feel like it make adjustments accordingly.

Games@lemmy.world•Today's featured article on Wikipedia: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of MemoriesEnglish
41·10 months agoAs someone who doesn’t play on consoles, the first time I encountered Kingdom Hearts, I thought this was a satirical piece. As if the gaming site made up a fake game. Goofy, Donald Duck and the Final Fantasy fellow together sounded like a teen fanfic.
No disrespect intended. I am genuinely happy if KH brings entertainment to people. Just sharing my literal “first impression”.

4·11 months agoIt’s a comically bad experience.
I get it that it’s probably easier to setup a Discord server, than to run your own forum, but you can always get a managed solution or use reddit (I would prefer if Lemmy was used, but I am also realistic).

Games@lemmy.world•Grocery Store Tycoon - First Store, a grocery store management game, one that stands out in terms of visuals, gameplay from the litany of "[retail store] simulator" games, released for free on SteamEnglish
0·11 months agoI was wondering if this is the case due to the “first store label”, but I wasn’t abel to find a link to the Steam store page for the full game.
I guess I didn’t look well enough. :(

Games@lemmy.world•Grocery Store Tycoon - First Store, a grocery store management game, one that stands out in terms of visuals, gameplay from the litany of "[retail store] simulator" games, released for free on SteamEnglish
0·11 months agoTried out the demo in late 2024. I really like the concept. It didn’t feel like all those "[retail store type] simulator] UE5 asset flips that are all over Steam. It has it’s own visual style and IMO has more refined core gameplay mechanics. Sure, some of the gamplay is similar (and can be very addicting), but you can see that thought was put into the gameplay mechanics.
If the 1st person store simulator concept seems intriguing, but you are looking for something beyond a quick UE5 asset flip, I would recommend to check this out.
I am surprised that it was released for free. I briefly interacted with the dev in late 2024 and I was under the impression that there would be a commercial release in 1H 2025.

1·11 months agoDon’t know the game’s other qualities, but IMO the art in Summertime Saga looks rather uninspired.

I see. Thank you for that.
FWIW, I do my best to promote non-ML alternatives.
