Russia has confirmed one of its warships has been damaged in a Ukrainian attack on a Black Sea port.
The airstrike took place at Feodosiya in Russian-occupied Crimea early on Tuesday morning.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said the large landing ship Novocherkassk was struck by Ukrainian aircraft carrying guided missiles.
The head of the Ukrainian Air Force said earlier its warplanes had destroyed the ship.
One person was killed in the attack, according to the Russian-installed head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov. Several others were reportedly hurt.
Six buildings were damaged and a small number of people had to be taken to temporary accommodation centres, Mr Aksyonov added.
Very nice and, with the five downed russ-warplanes recently, this really looks like a good trend 👍
“Damaged” … I mean sure, it’s technically correct but that ship is going nowhere but the scrapyard.
So successfully redeployed to a resource reallocation facility?
Fuck russia and their agents in Congress.
I’m going to say straight up fuck the Republicans in general.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said the large landing ship Novocherkassk was struck by Ukrainian aircraft carrying guided missiles.
Six buildings were damaged and a small number of people had to be taken to temporary accommodation centres, Mr Aksyonov added.
The port’s transport operations are said to be functioning as normal after the area was cordoned off, while a fire caused by the attack was contained.
Footage purportedly showing a huge explosion in the port was shared by Ukrainian air force commander Lt Gen Mykola Oleshchuk.
The images have not been independently verified, however satellite imagery from 24 December shows a ship at port in Feodosiya that appears to be the same length as the Novocherkassk.
Last month, Ukraine’s military said it had destroyed 15 Russian navy ships and damaged another 12 in the Black Sea since the start of Russia’s war.

in more christmas news…
Ignorant question, for what reason does Russia admit to having successfully been attacked? Seems like things they’d want to cover up.
It was a damn big explosion that was pretty well documented by civilians.
Yeah, I guess my question was more just general when we see Russia admit to planes being taken down, tanks lost, etc etc. I suppose I just imagine them denying everything even if the opposition has evidence.
They’ve been relatively on top of ship losses for whatever reason. Probably because it’s harder to brush a big ass warship under the rug.
I couldn’t believe in such a big ass CGI level blast, but I’ve heard news the leaker of one of the videos was found and there were public notices of not doing just that as ‘it helps the enemy’. And also an official russian news vid from there, where a big rectangular piece of ship’s metal pierced the earth for what a host said at least a meter. I’m a cautious person when it comes to such things but it really seems a ship carrying a lot of ammunition did an oppenhaimer. Yet, I can’t confirm it was a shipment of shahed drones some people speculated about.
What can I say? It limits how other ships would go around, many of them used to carry ammunition and perform strikes, so there would be less of them. Plus, the dock where it happened suffered, so probably minus one route water2ground.
That attack, probably by Stormshadow, did have an impact. So the old lie new pieces won’t change anithing is, well, just a lie confirmed. If new shipments follow, it would not be the last one of confirmed kills. And having a system to reach that far can really affect the situation.
