This happens a lot whenever Discord fucks up. There’s always like 10 posts in the selfhosting sublemmy shilling “Discord killers” that are AI written and don’t have considerations for the security of such an application…
As if Discord had security…
I would still trust discord over a newly popped up slop project
Wow, low bar, like derailing subway trains, and yet, I agree.
they don’t even have e2ee for DMs, and are most likely feeding your messages to LLMs
To be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the “discord killers” lacked functioning e2e encryption…
they probably don’t but i also doubt they’re doing much with that data, while discord actively has corporate investors.
and they never explain why i would use them over the more established matrix or fluxer (especially that fluxer now has federation for 2027 on their roadmap)
I like stoat, encryption optional and its not owned by Israeli Intelligence as far as we know at this time.
Situation: there is 14 standards
Yeah if we count one slop standard then we have to count all 7938 new standards a week.
Plus they’re all just mix matches of old standards based on light meters, weight per volumes of x element, and temperature at phase changes of x material. None of them are actually new.
Also, even the AI systems used to establish a given standard donʻt follow it.
came here to post the same but since you already did i had to fix the image:
I dunno why someone edited this xkcd to specifically mention AI when the original covers all bases.
…that was my response to seeing the thing I linked in the description of the post. Bit rude innit?
this in response to seeing https://mony.lol/
Wtf is that homepage even?
But it’s using ActivityPub, not a new standard?
ugh. this website makes me feel old.
thats a sick website.
I do kinda like the style, just a shame that the project (and probably the website) seem to be made using LLMs (look at the git ignores for the app)
Yeah and I think if nothing else the text underlying it is surely llm.
