I can’t wait for the COINTELPRO documents about XR to come out. They have to be an op. Their entire schtick is getting all of the current and future climate activists arrested and listed in biometric databases before climate change intensifies. They have official XR Landlord and XR Police offshoots while publicly stating they’re not socialists. It’s liberalism.jpg to the point of parody.

Beyond their track record, I would consider them one of the worst examples of bourgeois activism. They do performative cringe bullshit with a one-dimensional liberal view of their subject in such a nauseating way that it makes people hate vegans and animal rights activists. I’ve caught shit on the radical fringes of animal rights because the fucking winemom hippies in PETA oppose pet ownership while supporting every other form of oppression, creating association between them and me that isn’t there. I’ll never join a vegan community because PETA-types make it clear you can be fully immersed and valued in that world without ever being a socialist, something that I reject as readily as I would any other liberal org.

              Beyond their track record

You mean this track record? The track record of making real, positive change for animals again and again and again? Seriously stfu, peta has done far more for animals than you ever will, you absolute liberal.

Did you read the article or just the verdict?

While we transfer hundreds of animals to reputable shelter partners and place animals for adoption, our shelter mostly takes in aggressive, sick, elderly, injured, feral, or otherwise unadoptable animals for whom euthanasia is the most humane option, and we euthanize at the owners’ request when they can’t afford to pay for their sick and dying animals to be put to sleep.

Cherry-picking animals to only allow in the most adoptable at shelters with limited admission (otherwise known as ‘no-kill’) policies doesn’t help and often leads to people dumping animals, or neglecting them in other ways.

Free euthanasias are a valuable service. I had to pay hundreds of dollars for my sick and dying pet rat to get diagnosed and euthanized. Lots of people don’t have that kind of money, and they allow their pets to suffer as a consequence.

BTW I agree with you that most of what PETA does is cringe bourgeois, liberal activism, but coming at them from this angle is redditor bullshit. The “PETA kills” stuff has always been an agribusiness op.

“If you have an open-door intake policy and welcome damaged animals who are abused, neglected, unloved, or who no one else will accept, of course your euthanization numbers will look different than those of a shelter that accepts a limited number of animals and turns animals away,” PETA told Newsweek in an email Friday.

I have not followed PETA closely, but my impression is that 99% of the hate towards them is nonsense.
