  • Amazon is launching a new docuseries on Melania Trump this fall, offering a deeper look into her life
  • The series will explore her White House work, family life, career and philanthropic projects beyond the scope of her previous, self-titled documentary
  • The earlier Amazon documentary earned poor reviews from critics when it premiered in January 2026, despite a $75M investment

Amazon is expanding its coverage of first lady Melania Trump with a new docuseries, according to her exclusive senior adviser, Marc Beckman.

Speaking on Real America’s Voice, Beckman said the series will debut this fall and offer a “completely different look” at her life than what was already shown in the Amazon MGM documentary, Melania, which followed the weeks leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

Beckman added that the upcoming series will explore the first lady’s work inside the White House, along with her family life, career and philanthropic efforts. He described it as a deeper look into her world than the feature-length documentary, which chronicled just 20 days.

The announcement comes months after Amazon released Melania, a Brett Ratner-directed film that was licensed by the company in a high-profile deal.

Melania has drawn a stark divide between critics and audiences, earning one of the largest gaps in Rotten Tomatoes history. The film holds a 10% critics’ score, while 99% of verified audience members rated it positively.

A Rotten Tomatoes spokesperson told PEOPLE in February the disparity marked the biggest split between critics and audiences the review site had ever recorded.

Melania debuted at the box office, grossing $7.04 million worldwide during its opening weekend between Jan. 30 and Feb. 1. According to Deadline, the performance marked the biggest opening weekend for a nonfiction film in the past decade, surpassing the previous record set by 2023’s After Death, which opened to $5 million.

Despite the record-setting debut, the film’s opening earnings represented only a small portion of Amazon MGM Studios’ reported investment. The studio is said to have acquired the documentary for $40 million and spent an additional $35 million on its marketing campaign.

The project also marked Ratner‘s first major film since stepping away from Hollywood after multiple women, including actress Olivia Munn, accused him of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo movement. Ratner has denied the allegations, and no criminal charges were filed against him.

Amazon MGM Studio did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

    What’s bezos after?

Literally keeping Trump happy. And this is stupendously cheap for him. He spends just $10s of millions to try to keep and get yet more federal contracts totaling billions or - I dunno - $10s of billions.
