Okay but like akvavit based cocktails are an actual thing in Scandinavia. Like malort is just an akvavit.
Since wormwood and anise are the dominant herbs, I think it is closer to absinthe. Which is also a common Scandinavian liquor.
You can have anise dominant akvavits. You can even have berry dominant akvavits traditionally served with whipped cream. Welcome to the thunderdome
Edit: Also the name malort is just malurt, the word for wormwood. And wormwood is a normal flavor for akvavit.
