Russia is shocked by the fall of North Korea, but it isn’t exactly a good look to come to the defense of a totalitarian nuclear-armed pariah state. So, Russia just instead supports China’s stance of “reunification can only open through peace”. The Russian government is slightly displeased that the new North Korea would pretty much be a Chinese puppet, but it was more preferable than the peninsula being united by South Korea.
